Super Street Fighter IV has just been released and to mark the occasion, here’s a cosplay of the newest challenger, Juri, by RPGirlNess.

Yaya Han and Omi Gibson as the Cowboy Bebop Girls

Dream Match of the Century!

Recently, Yaya Han traveled to Japan for an event that opened the opportunity to team up with another cosplay superstar: Omi Gibson. Easily one of the hottest, most anticipated team-ups that a fanboy could dream.

To suit the occasion, Yaya and Omi chose characters from one of the greatest anime of all time, Cowboy Bebop; dressing as Faye Valentine and Julia (respectively). Sadly, due to Japanese standards of public decency, Yaya couldn’t unleash herself for the signature Faye Valentine cleavage. But she has promised to post photo shoots in the future more true to canon.

On a personal note, there’s a grain of surreality for me, since I’ve interviewed both these lovely ladies at some point last year. You can still read those interviews here and here, though I’ll soon transfer them to this site. Seeing them together while remembering that common tie between them (though I’m sure they’ve already long-forgotten) makes them feel more real.

Jia Jem as Kei from Adam Warren's Dirty Pair

Jia Jem–well-known as HezaChan‘s other half in the Puma Twins photo series–delivers a fantastic rendition of Kei from Adam Warren’s comic book adaptation of The Dirty Pair. If the costume wasn’t eye-popping enough, let’s not forget the incredible amount of effort to recreate the crazy anti-gravity pack prop strapped to her back.

Dare we dream of another cosplay team-up with HezaChan as Yuri?

Omi Gibson as Gokico (by JUNNY)

So there’s this popular artist in Japan named JUNNY. And apparently, one of the characters in her gallery is this one named Gokico. I cannot find any images of this character; perhaps I’m looking on the wrong internet. For the first time, I’m faced with an amazing cosplay by a person I’m familiar with and it’s the source I can’t identify.

Regardless, Omi Gibson does it again. I can’t tell if she’s augmented her eyes to make them appear wider (possibly à la Eye Talk?) or if it’s my imagination. The natural look of her Asian eyes have never hindered her before, but maybe she’s trying something new.

But whatever… It’s Omi Gibson in a catsuit, and that means good times!

AmazonMandy as Jokergirl

It’s April Fools Day! Time to pay tribute to my favorite joker…THE Joker. Better still, a crossplay version of the clown prince[ss] brought to you by AmazonMandy.

AmazonMandy has a very naturally villainous grin; perfect for The Joker. Contrary to how that sounds, it doesn’t discount the sexiness in the slightest. She has a very healthy gallery of costumes (some which may make their way here in the future), including the only costume I’ve seen of Lady Amalthea from The Last Unicorn.

Oh, Seth Green… First Molotov Cocktease and now Jokergirl! You’re a straight up pimp, dawg!

Zalora as Cammy (Delta Red)

Zalora has a modest, but impressive gallery of costumes… The one that catches my eye the most (obviously) is her Delta Red Cammy from Street Fighter. What impresses me the most is that she’s one of the rare few that managed to get Cammy’s wild bang cowlick to look right!

She’s got the face, she’s got the physique, and best of all, she has the costuming talent to bring Cammy to life. Kudos, Zalora!

Francesca Dani as Princess Zelda

I can’t believe I’ve been doing this Cosplay of the Week thing for so long and I haven’t posted any thing by Francesca Dani. That might be because finding full galleries of her costumes is hard to come by, since access to that section of her homepage requires a credit card.

All the same, I managed to snag these shots of Francesca as Princess Zelda from her blog. The level of detail of her costume’s accessories, along with her fair Western features suit her well for the elfish Zelda.

Zettai Ryoiki as Sheryl Nome

Macross Frontier, while good, is no Macross Plus in my book. Nor can Sheryl Nome, while also good, hold a candle to Sharon Apple.

That said, Zettai Ryoiki does a fantastic portrayal of Sheryl in this week’s featured cosplay gallery. This is one of her concert outfits; possibly the most risque. But you’ll get no opposition to that by me. Though from the looks of the backdrop, I hope Sheryl’s able to book fancier gigs than this dive. Unless it’s just karaoke night..?

Omi Gibson IS Mikura from Mezzo Forte

Mezzo Forte, just like any anime woven by Yasuomi Umetsu, is crap that endeavors with furrowed brow to not be porn…but it is.

Nevertheless, Omi Gibson magically suits Umetsu’s unique art style, again realizing an entity borne of ink and paint. I don’t know how she does it, but I don’t make it a habit of asking uninteresting questions.

Igarashi Natsumi as Aisaka Taiga

Unfortunately, I don’t know much about Igarashi Natsumi, but she fits Toradora!‘s palmtop tiger like a glove. Aisaka is a difficult character to accurately cosplay, since she has a very specific look: Youthful, petite, and spunky. Natsumi, in these photos, has this nailed.
