Superbook (and it’s successor, The Flying House) is an anime about the Bible. I don’t know what else I can contribute to that description, since those few words perfectly encapsulate the show and all they imply. It’s an anime. About the Bible.
Yes, there’s a robot.
Rather, this show gives cause to remember to check your smoke and carbon monoxide detector’s regularly. Always keep a fresh battery and run tests once a month.
In the Method to Madness podcast, I’m joined with my good friend Kevin “The Business” Gray to discuss great anime and video games that you should be watching as well as ones you should feel ashamed you are watching.

Don’t listen to Kevin’s excuses! He is just a front man for the conspiracy! There are people that live inside your body! The documentary Space Transformers reveals the truth!
Also, the Rohypnol/ Carbon Monoxide thing stops working as an excuse when they add the cousin, since not all of them go into the book. Unless the drugs they get into are really that powerful.
Yuri’s arc involves a lot of timeskipping and running through time holes and whatnot.
In the scenario with the 13 yr old giving the blow job to the Senior, Kevin was the wind up robot.
As for naked-
I had a complete WTF moment one morning after staying up all night way back in Highschool, in which I flicked the TV to Superbook and Flying house, and I figured I’d have a good chuckle. I tuned into the the episode where they crashed the flying house and all got naked to dry their clothes. I don’t remember if there were nipples, but all the characters were naked, from the old man to the little girl.
In any case, this show was strange as hell, and I wonder if Tatsunoko wasn’t being subversive through the entire series run.

This is your fanfic assignment: Superbook and Dr. Who crossover. Slash content is at your discretion.

Id figure if anything, either Pat Robinson or Kennith Copland would have a hand in this, but I think they would have not.
As for the bible doom game, from what I got in “Masters of Doom” was the company who made the game called id and asked if they could use the Wolfenstein engine and I think who picked up the phone was John Romero who was like “Screw it, we totally will give you the source code for that, we dont care”.
For all I know, this might have been something ive caught on TBN one time or another but didnt watch more than 5 seconds of it. I will throw this notion to you if you would ever consider reviewing Focus on the Family/TBN/Kennith Copland series on classics such as “McGee and me”, “Commander Kelly and the Superkids” (heavy drinking required on that one) or Bibleman. I did find this pretty entertaining to hear, despite me being a christian and what not. Ill admit it, christians make some interesting crap to promote gods word to kids, but its very rare that something halfway decent comes out of it from an adult prespective. Its just a notion to throw out there if you dare to go there.

I wouldn’t say that Pat Robertson had a direct hand in these shows, but his company CBN and Tatsunoko Production worked on this in conjuction.

What’s cool is that you can find some behind-the-scenes videos on this show in iTunes. I found it kind of interesting.

Alright, I’m already halfway through this review and I already I feel like I wasted my time, no offense?
I’m no religious nutcase, or Pat Robertson follower, but I enjoyed Superbook as a kid (I still watch it from time to time and still find it fun to watch). I also recently discovered Flying House, and found that okay as well. In my opinion, I don’t think the shows were too preachy, especially since they were done by Tatsunoko Productions. I know CBN was involved, but not in terms of production or writing.
I’m actually working on a comic project, called Trouble Shooters, and it stars revamped versions of Chris Peeper, Joy, Gizmo, Justin Casey, Corkey Roberts, Humphrey Bumble, etc. as different roles. The artwork for that is on my deviantart page.

Hope you don’t feel like I’m trolling…just stating my opinion. :)

I know this is my 2nd post; but I did finish the podcast. I kinda agree about the new CGI Superbook; they basically turned this childhood show of mine and turned it into, as said in the podcast, a captain planet clone. The problem with the new show is that they’re more concerned about making the show ‘better looking than ever’ but seem to pay no attention to the Bible stories. That’s why I liked the original better, because there was a sense of story going on in each episode; my fav episodes were prob Gideon, David, Paul, and a couple more.
I’m all for introducing Bible stories to kids, but not when the storytelling element is neglected.
