Words fail me in describing my reaction to The Expendables. At least, written words. Put very simply: I didn’t like it. After several failed drafts, I finally just gathered my notes, fired up the mic, and spoke my peace about this movie.

**SPOILER WARNING!** Proceed with caution.

Since this is just myself and no Kevin for this round, it’s not to be considered part of the Method to Madness canon, though he and I might have a followup to this on the podcast in the future.

Awww… He’s a lover AND a fighter!

What is wrong with this picture? (Don't worry, you'll get two chances to guess.)

In the Method to Madness podcast, I’m joined with my good friend Kevin “The Business” Gray to discuss great anime and video games that you should be watching as well as ones you should feel ashamed you are watching.

  2. Im getting 10kb for the file, which I dont think its going to work.

Either I forgot to upload the file or my server forgot that I already had. The good news is that it’s fixed.

  3. Yeah same problem. Man, you have been updating furiously, I don’t even have time to comment by the time you post something else :p

  5. BTW, the A-team movie is quite awesome. As for ‘A-team was rushed to compete with Expendables’ It’s been in production since like right after District 9 was made, so the opposite, that expendables was rushed to compete with A-team might be true.

Ill hear Sean review when im at lunch today (even though i havent seen the movie yet), but Expendables seems to lack a few other people to make it an “ultimate action movie”, Jean Claude Van Damme, Chuck Norris, and Segata Sanshiro.

Ill have to check out A-Team, but seeing Machete has my attention more so than ever.

Agreed… If you look at the lineup above, only Sly, Dolph, Bruce, and Mickey are among the classic stars. Even if you include Arnold, he and Mickey and Bruce are barely in this movie as more than cameos. Without Van Damme, Segal, and Chuck, it feels very incomplete…

It would have been cool if the writers wrote in like punch lines to old movies they were in or homages to old one liners. Since Gary Daniels died, this one liner could be “You are already dead”, And when Dolph died, the one liner for that could have been “He was the ultimate soldier”, or when Arnie met Sly and Sly was mad about whatever, Arnie could have said “Blow off some steam”.

Ok, those might be bad, but they dont sound any worse than what you mentioned in this movie. I still wanna watch this anyways.

Oh yea, for Statham, his GF just doesnt need to be around a guy for awhile. Shoot, she seems to be like the type of girls that guys like me and Kevin wonder “why is she with that guy?”

If it’s not at the local dollar theater, I’ll have to wait until DVD to rent A-Team…

…I guess I can’t refer to this in Method to Madness fanfiction, then. ;P

    The Grey Ghost Reply:

Well, since doujin isn’t strictly canon either…maybe?

    ZeonicFreak Reply:

Wait, are you actually making fanfiction off Sean and Kevin grand adventure into anime reviews? If so, that better be some darn good fanfiction.

Im sure your not, but that would be cool if it were so.

If it’s anything like the fanart she’s made for us, it would be a treat!

    Unless it’s Blue fanfiction

If this review isn’t canon for Method to Madness, are you prevented from ever referring to it in a proper episode due to its acanon nature?

    The Grey Ghost Reply:

If we do a followup, that will ret-con it back into canon. If there’s no followup, but we make reference to it, that means it may have happened in canon but not necessarily within it’s continuity.

    Is there any other type?

I don’t hate Kevin and Sean enough to do something like that, although if somebody challenges me to it I may have to take them up on it.

If anything tho, M2M lends itself better to drawings or comics. I need like… a week off to get all the stuff accomplished I want to contribute. D: Sigh!

I need to get back to sketching. Ive put my artistic abilities to learning music, putting together AMV’s and trying to do game design (when I… remember to fiddle around on UnrealED).

  7. This isn’t a slight against you or Kevin, but I sort of like this better solo. What I mean is, you seem to be generally more focused when you don’t go off on tangents with each other and linger on the same joke for too long. I’d like to see a similar level of pacing and staying on topic with your regular casts. The only thing missing from solo are the jokes, which like I mention above, are a double edged sword.

    The Grey Ghost Reply:

It’s likely that more solo casts will come soon, depending on our work schedules. I like doing them, so they’ll either serve as fun or filler.
