Our Animazement 2010 coverage continues!

Saturday was the apex of our convention experience; a whirl of events, commerce, and good drink with good friends. Sunday wound down the weekend, but not without a grand hoorah.

Also, Kevin hates furries.

KEVIN DOESN'T WANT TO KNOW ABOUT IT.

In the Method to Madness podcast, I’m joined with my good friend Kevin “The Business” Gray to discuss great anime and video games that you should be watching as well as ones you should feel ashamed you are watching.

  1. I about flipped when i saw pic of the “Beers of War” plate, ill have to check that place out next time im up there. Yea, pretty much everyone who works at Epic Games is from Raleigh. I had a friend of mine who worked as a tester for Gears 2 and saw Cliff often, even stated at the launch party for Gears 2 Cliff was in the back watching other people playing his game than getting wasted with the VP and the other programmers. Just shows how dedicated he his to watch his fans enjoy what he creates. Im sure he got wasted but thats what i heard.

Regarding cosplayers, there are some outfits that people should have the right to wear the whole weekend. One in particular is the GIR outfit from Invader Zim. Its has cooling fans and other accessories to keep the wearer in a comfortable state (or more so). The Kratos guy is probably the same guy who has been doing Kratos since ive been going. I mean, if you put like over a grand of money into an outfit, you should have the right to wear it all weekend, even if it has some odor. But the owner should take steps to “de-funk” the thing every night.

Gah, i should have saw the Noiz vs DDR thing. My brother got an autograph with them last year, but it was at the back of the convention building while they had a smoke break and I think we meet the guy who did speak english, and they were cool to meet.

As for posters, I picked up a Rhea Gall Force poster and a Fatal Fury 2 one that im sure was from the same guy you might have gotten the Fist of the North Star poster from. It was also the same guy who had that Patlabor poster i was mentioning in the last podcast comment section.

I think I say in the podcast that there are some costumes that are acceptable to wear for the entire weekend. I might use my Asto Fighter Sunred costume as an example of such. If the GIR costume has an internal cooling and ventilation system, it gets a pass. But ones that come into regular contact with sweat and other bodily fluids and are subject to funk are strictly one- to two-time use.

    This is our rule.

I respect that rule no doubt.

I got away with my “tan sports jacket, the red tie black shirt and kaki pants” Percy Bacharach look for 2 days, but i was happy sunday i didnt have to wear that and lug my laptop around and my toy shotgun.

Im possibly thinking about going as Dr. Weird next year from ATHF. With the M shaped ax.

There ya go… Just shower regularly, change your underpants and undershirt, Fabreeze the rest, and you’re good for the weekend on the Percy.

I say nay to the Dr. Weird, for no other reason than I fear the chance of seeing your nipples.

    ZeonicFreak Reply:

Im sure your reasoning is “its way to gay dude for me if i was in public with you” or does male nipples triggers you to be gay and you dont want that to happen. I might just do an undershirt but that wouldnt be authentic.

Hey, i could have gone all out to attach deer antlers to my groin.

Ah, again it was a thought, i shouldnt have said anything, but it was probably for the better to put that out there.

    The Grey Ghost Reply:

I don’t think it has to do with whether or not it’s gay… I jus’ dun wanna see it! Like back hair or your recent toenail clippings.

    ZeonicFreak Reply:

Hey, i use my clipping for currency, like in Ahh! Real Monsters!!

    Yea… I see your point.

  2. Oh man if you were trying to make me ill with that rescue rangers picture, it worked!

I’m kinda sad I wasn’t there for the NOIZE vs. DDR, but it really doesn’t surprise me that they were extremely gung-ho about entertaining; a lot of j-rockers are like that in general. What they don’t have in talent they make up for in enthusiasm!

    ZeonicFreak Reply:

So your saying alot of J Rockers have no talent and can just act like they know how to play songs and an instrument?

    You may have something.

    Amakun Reply:

There are very talented j-rockers, many of which I’m a fan of, however in general, Japanese musicians are extremely hard working. If they aren’t then they’ll get lost in a sea of glam-rock knock-offs. A lot of times their devotion to entertaining people is what wins them die-hard fans.

I was just trying to understand M comment…jokingly.

I do know that many jpop artist and jrockers careers dont last long and japan tends to forget about them very quickly. It seems any band that makes it overseas seems to last a long time such as Yoko Kanno, TM Revolution, Gackt, Ayumi Hamasaki, M.O.V.E, Perfume and maybe a few others i cant think of. I say perfume because their song Monochrome Effect was in an episode of American Dad. Well, maybe thats just McFarlene way of saying “i can put this in my show”.

  3. i always prefer to use brushless cooling fans because they last longer and needs less maintennance”;*
