California Crisis is Japan’s love letter to California. It is the state that I once called home before I fled to escape falling into the ocean under the weight of smug hippies and “undocumented immigrants”. However, after a decade of living in NC, the nostalgic parts of me continue to look back to fond memories of the majestic wonders that inhabit So. Cali.
This anime reminded me of how little I’m missing.
I dedicate this episode of the podcast to my homies still kickin’ it on the West Side. As Riverside (and most of the valley area) is the Golden State’s roach motel, I pray they too can one day escape to lands with smog-less blue skies and fertile, green-laden earth.

Listen to your friends, Noera.
In the Method to Madness podcast, I’m joined with my good friend Kevin “The Business” Gray to discuss great anime and video games that you should be watching as well as ones you should feel ashamed you are watching.

I’ve had the ‘I’ve been there’ experience, but in reverse. I watched Gunsmith Cats then visited Chicago, and trust me, they got the highway and various places in town perfect in that anime.
Also, ablative, not abalative. The latter is a common mistake, but still a mistake.

I’ve only been through Chicago in passing, so once they make an anime that features O’Hare airport, I’ll have my eyes peeled.
Otherwise, whenever I think about Chicago, I can’t help but think of the opening sequence for Perfect Strangers.

Hey, if California has one thing… its Ska Music!!!! If I could travel an hour or so to a Reel Big Fish or Aquabats concert, im there. Sadly, on the east coast, they perform in the same areas that are to far from me.
To introduce myself, I was that guy who you talked to at Animazement today with the fumanchu and the cop shades. I haven’t listened to your stuff yet, but I will, just you wait.

I totally remember ska! And Reel Big Fish is just another reason why Baseketball is one of my all-time favorite movies.

I got to see the last half of their show which consisted of Streetlight Manifesto, RBF and Less Than Jake. Long story short, this happened back in 2007 when they toured the east coast, so my friend and I were driving from Cary (where I lived at the time) to Richomd VA, we wound up going the wrong way on 85 for like 30 minutes so that cost us to miss Streetlight and the first half of Reel Big Fish, but I did see Less than Jake, great show. They did a whole “Price is Right” skit thing which was awesome.
I miss 1997, because at the time 96 rock ( I would have to assume, because I was in Charlotte NC so they have 106.5) would play great 90′s music that did come to the east coast like RBF “Sell Out” with Mighty Mighty Bosstones “Impression that I get” and when No Doubt still existed. Now last I checked, 96 rock just does… the Guitar Hero soundtrack.
Speaking of “Sell Out” I had the chance to sing that with my brother and a friend of ours at some church cook out, he put it on his phone and it was like 3 man karaoke that everyone looked at us like “what song is that”.
Still need to see that movie BTW. But if you wanna mention Trey Parker and Matt Stone movies, I think Orgazmo is awesome.

I just saw that movie, its awesome. I wish it was 1998 again, maybe a possible chance of ska bands in films like Save Ferris (10 things i hate about you) and The Mighty Mighty Bosstones (“Impression that i get” was at the end of Step Brothers) as well.

Im about 4 months behind on when this podcast came out, but I saw the anime today, fantastic.
I will say this, I think japan got it right how american vehicles were made back then, like freaking tanks. They just dont make Fords or Chryslers like they use too, which are anti-cliff and anti-30mm bullet resistant, or at least the vehicle will run regardless if the body is shredded. Kinda reminds me of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ed2VfS7CGiE
Ill listen to the podcast later.
