Tenjho Tenge? Hells yeah! That’s a show about punching! AND kicking! And boobies. And also some…Wait, what was that last one? DAMMIT!

So here we are once again–much as we were with Basquash!–torn between cheering on the super-sweet martial arts beat-down action, only to be quickly deflated by the contamination of fan service. Our dark nemesis, fan service…

THIS IS THE FACE OF THE ENEMY!

In the Method to Madness podcast, I’m joined with my good friend Kevin “The Business” Gray to discuss great anime and video games that you should be watching as well as ones you should feel ashamed you are watching.

  1. I must say, you guys are wrong about just one thing…

    There IS undefined meat in empty Oil drums.

    MMM, delicious undefined oil soaked meat.

  2. You forgot the other horror of raisins: you see them from afar and think they’re chocolate chips, only to discover they’re HORRIBLE HORRIBLE RAISINS when you bite into them. D;

    The opposite can be a sweet relief; biting into an oatmeal cookie to find that it has dark chocolate chips.

    Funny story: My mom hates the taste of chocolate. Yeah, she’s one of those. One day she did in fact bite into an oatmeal cookie with dark chocolate chips, thinking they were raisins. As she retched, I said to her, “See??? Now you know how it feels!”

  3. Man, you guys are crazy. I love oatmeal cookies, and I don’t even want to see a bagel unless there are raisins in it.

    Tenjho Tenge on the other hand… I got about halfway through this series before I lost interest, and I love stupid shonen fighting shows. I can tolerate pretty stupid plots, Baki for instance, is not very creative or innovative but it was solid. It was straightforward enough to serve its purpose of being a platform for fights to happen. TT’s plot is SO inane I couldn’t bear it. Mind you I’ve watched pretty trashy shows like Ikkitousen and Queen’s Blade but I never made the effort to finish Tenjho.

    I’m almost tempted to dig it up. The opening theme is pretty cool but from what I remember the fighting was not THAT amazing so I’m hesitant…

    We’ll be covering Queen’s Blade in the next couple of weeks!

    From what you’ll learn from our Mahoromatic podcast, sometimes it pays to finish what ya start.
