Unlike other Rankin / Bass animations, which were made for TV, <I>The Last Unicorn</I> was released theatrically. I'm also reasonably sure from repeatedly viewings of both American DVD releases that there is more picture available in the 25th Anniversary edition. So I don't think that version of the film is cropped. Just a quick note: the original aspect ration for the film as listed on IMDB is 1.85 : 1, which is a widescreen format.
