I was hoping to play some of Vanguard Princess and post an article with my thoughts, but I’m having trouble getting it to run on my aged desktop. It probably has to do with a language setting, but once I get it figured out, I’ll sink my teeth into it and share my two cents.
Here’s really all you need to know for now: It’s free.
Vanguard Princess is a doujin 2D fighting game made in part by a guy who used to work at Capcom. It has some gorgeous graphics with your typical anime girl art style. If you’d like to download it yourself, you can easily acquire it here.
In the meantime, I’ll post a fairly clean video that demonstrates the game so that you can at least get a sense of it. Just by visuals alone, that’s damn good showmanship for freeware.
This week’s X-Button column over at Anime News Network also has a cool piece on hot doujin fighters, including Vanguard Princess and my personal favorite, Melty Blood.
